(TOLO News): First Vice President Amrullah Saleh on Saturday said the Afghan forces have arrested the mastermind behind the deadly attack on Kabul University that left at least 22 people dead, most of whom were students of the university.
Saleh said in a Facebook post that the suspect, Adil, is a resident of Panjshir province and had studied three years at Sharia Law Faculty. After that, Saleh said, Adil was recruited by Sanaullah, a member of the Haqqani network. Saleh said the suspect has confessed that he was assigned to carry out the activities that could pressure the Afghan government. The first vice president said that Adil’s family is living in Pul-e-Charkhi area in Kabul and that their neighbors have said that he was missing for the last three years and it was rumored that he has gone abroad for “studies and war.” He said that those who conducted the attack have multiple identities as sometimes they affiliate themselves to Hizb ut-Tahrir, or Taliban and Daesh. According to him, Adil has confessed that he received the weapons for the attack from the Haqqani network in Khost province. Daesh claimed responsivity for the attack, but the Afghan government has blamed the Taliban for the Kabul University attack. The Taliban has denied involvement in the attack. The attack left over 40 others wounded. At least 18 of those killed were students of the Public Administration School and Law Faculty of Kabul University.
