(BNA): The State Ministry for Natural Disasters Management said Saturday that almost 3,000 families have been affected by recent flash floods in 14 provinces of the country. Efforts to help the families are underway, at least 1,000 families in Parwan province are in urgent need of aid, said Ahmad Tamim Azimi, spokesman for the State Ministry for Natural Disasters Management. Kapisa, Maidan Wardak, Nangarhar, Panjshir and Surobi district of Kabul are other parts of the country that have suffered the most casualties in last week’s flooding. The recent floods have killed more than 160 people and injured more than 250 others. Parwan residents saying that the assistance provided so far is not enough to address the problems of all those who have been affected by the flooding. Last year, 45,000 families were affected by floods in the country. However, statistics from the State Ministry for Natural Disasters Management show that this year, prior to last week’s floods, about 22,000 families in the country were affected by flooding.
