A group of thieves looted the former Afghan Ambassador to Spain Massoud Khalili after beating him in Barcelona, it has been reported.
The media outlets in Spain have reported that the thieves attacked Mr. Khalili on a roadside in Barcelona on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the sources are saying that the thieves managed to steal the hand watch of Mr. Khalili which was having a value of 17,000 Euros.
Sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the thieves attacked Mr. Khalili in Barcelona.
The Embassy of Afghanistan in Spain in a statement said Mr. Khalili had visited a ceremony to mark the 100th Independence Day of Afghanistan in Barcelona.
The statement further added that Mr. Khalili has suffered injuries in his leg but his condition is satisfactory now.
According to reports, there has been a sharp rise in violence during the recent months in Barcelona which is one of the most frequented cities by tourists in Europe.
