Hekmatullah Azamy, Research Analyst at the Centre for Conflict and Peace Studies (CAPS) attended 5th Annual K. Subrahmanyam Memorial Lecture on Some Thoughts on the Domestic Dimensions of Security in New Delhi on 14th February 2017. Organized by Global India Foundation, the lecture was delivered by Hon’bleShri M. Hamid Ansari, Vice President of India. Dr S. Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary of India and other senior officials and scholars attended this important lecture.
In addition to this lecture, Mr Azamy had several meetings with key think-tanks and government officials where he discussed a host of issues of mutual concern.
Mr Azamy emphasized that security situation in Afghanistan has direct impact on that of India and countries in the region. He particularly suggested that Islamic State (ISIS) presence in Afghanistan is a serious challenge and India along with other regional stakeholders need to join hands together to fight the group.
