On 30 September 2007, the Centre for Conflict and Peace Studies (CAPS) conducted a one day training session for key staff of Combined Security Transition Command- Afghanistan (CSTC-A) in Kabul at Camp Eggers. The course was attended by Major General Robert W. Cone commanding general of CSTC-A, his six one star generals and other directors.

CAPS was recommend by General McNeil, COMISAF to CSTC-A as one of the leading Afghan institution that can deliver professional training.
The training covered five particular areas:
- History and Revolutions: tough terrain, tough history, tough people (Roots of the Struggle: from 1979 to present);
- Insurgency and Counter- insurgency: An Afghan Perspective
- Al Qaeda: Franchising Global Jihad.
- The Afghan Culture: Understanding the Afghan Mindest, Honour Code and Every day Culture.
- Understanding Islam
The training was well received and appreciated by the participants. The Commanding General presented the instructors, Hekmat Karzai, Dr. Najib ur Rahman Manalai, and Arian Sharifi award for excellence.
