Research, analysis and report writing 2. Conduct empirical, field based and secondary research on various issues effecting Afghanistan. 3. Management: 4. Recruitment and mentoring of new analysts SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES A. Develop and implement a strategy for fundraising B. Key tasks include creating and refining research methodology; undertaking secondary research,primary field research; data analysis; writing and editing weekly political and security assessments; making presentations of the findings; and other research support as required; C. Represent CAPS in international conferences and seminars D. Represent CAPS at relevant meetings with external stakeholders (Government Agencies, Tribal Leaders, UN and affiliated agencies, Donors, NGOs, Academia, Media, among others) and in national/international conferences; E. Traveling to provinces as and when required, security permitting Management: F. Assist the management in recruitment and mentoring of new analysts/researchers; Others: G. Post-holder may occasionally be called on for other duties as assigned KEY DELIVERABLES • Project based deliverables EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in social sciences; political science, international relations, security studies, international development, economics, law, business, mass communication, and other relevant disciplines. EXPERIENCE: At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in social sciences research, in particular, political and security research and analysis. Other experiences relevant to this work are policy analysis, teaching/training, advocacy and writing. Field Experience is an advantage. Experience in drafting high quality analytical products, assessments and reports is desirable. Field experience will be considered as an asset to this position.
