Pakistani ambassador to Afghanistan, His Excellency Mohammad Sadiq, was hosted by Centre for Conflict and Peace Studies (CAPS) on 19th June 2011. The director of CAPS, Hekmat Karzai, introduced the CAPS team to Mr. Sadiq and briefed him on CAPS activities and projects.

Ambassador Sadiq thanked CAPS for organizing the visit and discussed various issues with Mr. Karzai and the CAPS team. Ambassador Sadiq, discussed the current status of the Afghan businessmen operating in Pakistan. He explained that the Afghan craft business in Pakistan is flourishing and attracting both national and international buyers. He gave example of the Afghan carpet business which according to him undermined the business of the Pakistani carpets. He also explained how the export of expensive stones from Afghanistan to Pakistan happens and how its resent to Afghanistan after being refined.

Ambassador Sadiq offered CAPS staff, if they are interested, English and computer courses which Pakistan is providing to Afghan nationals in Kabul city free of charges and scholarships to masters program in Pakistani universities.
