Muhammad Ajmal Khan Karimi, Senior Research Analyst at the Center for Conflict and Peace Studies (CAPS), participated in a two-day Consortium of South Asian Think-Tanks (COSATT) Regional Conference on Countering Terrorism: Building a Common SAARC Agenda. This conference was jointly organized by the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) and the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS), and was supported by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, a leading think tank based in Germany. This meeting was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 12-13 April 2010. The main objective of the Dhaka conference was to launch a volume containing a series of articles on the nature of terrorism threat and counter terrorism policies of SAARC countries. This publication discussed policy documents and future projects of COSATT.  Mr. Karimi actively took part in the discussion concerning plausible recommendations for the publication. Following the release, the publication and policy brief would be circulated to the Heads of States in South Asia as well as the wider strategic community.

Additionly on the second day of the conference, a planning meeting was held to discuss future COSATT projects. During this discussion, several themes were provided by the participants of the conference pertaining to the future projects to be undertaken by COSATT. However, the final decision on the selection of the topics for the 2010 project will be made after the SAARC Summit in Bhutan that is to be held on 28th April 2010.
