Muhammad Ajmal Khan Karimi, Senior Research Analyst at Center for Conflict and Peace Studies (CAPS), participated in the Second Annual ASSET (Association for Security Sector Education and Training) General Meeting held in Manila, Philippines from 1-5 March 2010. It was a joint initiative between, The Institute for Strategic and Development Studies (ISDS Philippines), in partnership with the Association for Security Sector Reform Education and Training (ASSET).

Mr. Karimi held a presentation on the activities of Centre for Conflict and Peace Studies (CAPS) in the session in the first day of the meeting, in which he focused on the main activities of the institute such as Education & Training, Research and Policy Analysis and Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing that ultimately has positive impacts on the peace and stability of Afghanistan. In addition, in this Second Annual ASSET General Meeting, out of 14 new organizations eight of them were given membership to ASSET and CAPS was among those selected for membership. This will enable CAPS to participate regularly in the upcoming ASSET meetings.

 Furthermore, during the annual general meeting 2010, the activities left behind from 2009 were overlooked and new agenda for the ASSET activities of 2010 was presented by the ASSET member organizations’ Secretariat for approval.

 Also, the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the ASSET Secretariat was refined and some of the articles of the ASSET Corporation Statement (Statute) were amended with the consent of the member organizations of ASSET during the meeting.
